What is your ReStory? Share your story and win!
Yep, that’s right! The Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County ReStore is having a contest and we want to know your ReStory. To put it simply, a ReStory is a personal story about a way ReStore has impacted your life in some way. That impact can be trivial, monumental or just plain meaningful to you. For example, Hannah’s new bathroom floor (previous blog entry) is a ReStory. Another ReStory: not long ago a customer came in and purchased a china set. While the volunteers were wrapping each individual piece, the customer shared that he was buying the set because he felt confident that it matched his aunt’s china. Over the years, his aunt had broken a few pieces and was heartbroken over each loss. In purchasing the china set, he was giving his aunt a special gift: he demonstrably showed that he loves and cares about her, he helped her to complete her set, and contributed to Habitat for Humanity’s mission. That purchase didn’t change the way the wind blows (probably), but that doesn’t mean it didn’t mean something and it is most certainly an example of a ReStory. Every individual person has a story that is colored by the people they meet and the places they go and we believe that ReStore is a special place and that each customer cannot help but agree, cannot help but have had their story changed ever so slightly by being a part of what ReStore is. So what is your story?
